     Job Summary: This candidate will be working on an analytics project who will assist the data engineers with performance tuning data loads, index optimization, SQL optimization and develop queries and procedures where necessary.

    The candidate will be responsible to administer the SQL Server databases and to operationalize existing batch jobs to ensure all jobs execute successfully and complete on time.

    The candidate will lead the team in best practices for the relational database analytics platform.

    Essential Job Functions:

    · Schema maintenance, configuration and performance monitoring of SQL Server analytics database(s)

    · Collaborate with Data Scientists, Business Analysts, Architects, and Senior Developers to establish the physical application framework for enterprise-scale data solutions on-premises or in cloud environments

    · Use explain plan/profile/trace tools to provide reporting on top resource-intensive queries and suggest ways to improve performance

    · Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes. When query performance issues arise work with developers to improve the performance by tweaking it or modifying indexes

    · Assist Data Scientists with integrating their code into the CI/CD process

    · Assist Data Scientists with optimizing ETL for data warehousing and business intelligence needs · Create high-level technical architecture documents for process and maintenance flows
    Other Responsibilities:

    · Suggest best practices and implementation strategies for data solutions

    · Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, methodologies, processes, and best practices

    · Future opportunity to integrate with and administer the Cloudera Hadoop platform



    · Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT discipline


    · One of the following certifications:

    o Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification

    o Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Data Platform

    o Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Business Intelligence


    · Must have 5+ years relevant professional experience working with SQL, data warehouse technologies, query tuning, optimization tools, modeling, creating logic and physical database models

    · Knowledge of data modeling, star schema, operation data store development

    · Knowledge of standard software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall

    · Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends

    · Configure SQL Server monitoring to ensure the health of the applications

    · Working with cross-functional teams for issue resolution management and Infrastructure support

    · Must be willing to flex work hours accordingly to support application launches and manage production outages if necessary

    · Working knowledge of BI Tools such as Datorama, Domo and/or Tableau

    · Working knowledge of ETL tools such as Alteryx and IBM’s BI/BQ
